Jordan Henderson reportedly believed Fabinho was going to replace him at Liverpool, so he asked Jurgen Klopp to ‘redefine his responsibilities.’
That’s according to Simon Hughes, who in his report for The Athletic claims the captain feared the Brazilian’s growing importance.
This has been noticeable on the pitch, with Fabinho starting in the No.6 role almost every time he’s fit and available.
The position was near-exclusively held by Henderson before the Brazilian’s arrival, with the skipper now playing further advanced.
It’s proven successful, with the duo – alongside team-mate Gini Wijnaldum – central to Klopp’s plans since 2018.
Henderson asking the boss to transform his role shows a great deal of dedication to the club and general humility. He’s a credit to Liverpool.
